Solomon Island Eclectus

Smaller than the New Guinea Eclectus, the Solomon Island Eclectus are 12 inches (32cm) in length . they are found throughout the Solomon Islands east of mainland New Guinea in the Pacific Ocean. This archipelago of islands which includes New Georgia, Malaita, Santa Isabel, Guadalcanal, San Cristobal and Choiseul.

These highly vocal parrots are not only excellent mimics of human speech, they also produce a wide range of other sounds, including tones, coos, whistles, and laughs . Eclectuses make their nests up high in tree cavities running deep into the trunk.
